Orford Ness Island Day Trip

Members recently enjoyed a fabulous day out on Orford Ness Island organised by David Bryant.

It was not well known to us that we had a Most Secret Establishment on our doorstep which has been in military use as a test site since 1913.

It was here that top secret experiments were conducted across both world wars and into the nuclear age.

In 1968 work started there on an Anglo American radar project code named Cobra Mist.

Members spent about 3.5 hrs there and then had lunch at the nearby Jolly Sailors.
